10Calma was developed from over a decade of experience in psychiatry and focuses on integrating mind and body to enhance mental health. Recognizing that medication, while essential for some, may not be enough for every patient, this approach incorporates aromatherapy and daily habit modifications aimed at improving psychiatric symptoms. The practice emphasizes creating personalized treatment plans that empower individuals to take charge of their mental health, utilizing traditional psychiatry and complementary therapies to provide a well-rounded path toward wellness.
We offer a wide range of psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric consultations, medication management, aromatherapy, and psychotherapy for neuroatypicality (Autism and ADHD only). Aromatherapy services will be used when appropriate as part of the medication management services. Depending on the patient's needs, it will be used alone or to complete the psychopharmacological treatment.
Anyone between the ages of 5 and 55 can become a patient of 10Calma; children as young as 4 and adults older than 55 can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
We have vast experience in treating most psychiatric conditions across all ages.
It excludes schizophrenia, eating disorders (unless directly referred by the therapist or pediatrician), and substance use disorders as they are not included in the practice area of expertise. When in doubt, please call; we are happy to help.

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing practice that utilizes essential oils extracted from plants to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It involves inhaling the aromas or applying diluted oils to the skin, which can help alleviate stress, enhance mood, and support overall health.
Essential oils interact with the body's olfactory system and skin receptors. When inhaled, the tiny molecules of essential oils stimulate the olfactory receptors in the nose, which send signals to the brain, particularly the limbic system that regulates emotions and memories. When applied to the skin, essential oils can penetrate the skin barrier and enter the bloodstream, potentially providing therapeutic benefits throughout the body.
Aromatherapy can provide several benefits in psychiatry, including reducing anxiety, improving mood, and enhancing relaxation. Certain essential oils, like lavender and bergamot, have been found to help alleviate symptoms of stress and depression. Aromatherapy can also complement traditional treatments, aiding in emotional regulation and promoting a sense of well-being.
Carrier oils are vegetable oils derived from the fatty portions of plants, typically from seeds, nuts, or kernels. They are used to dilute essential oils before application to the skin to prevent irritation and enhance absorption. Carrier oils can also provide additional benefits, such as moisturizing the skin and delivering nutrients. At 10Calma, we use organic coconut oil; in the event of an allergy, we use grapeseed oil.
